The Doomsday Heist is Rockstar's most ambitious heist in GTA Online. Spanning three acts with over 25 setup missions and three finales, it's a massive undertaking that requires coordination, patience, and significant upfront investment. The rewards are substantial — completing the entire heist on hard mode with the Criminal Mastermind challenge pays over $12,000,000 total.
To start the Doomsday Heist, you need to buy a Facility property. The cheapest is the Grand Senora Desert facility for $1,250,000. However, the Route 68 facility ($1,450,000) is generally recommended for its central location. The Facility serves as your planning center for all three acts.
You need at least two players for the Doomsday Heist. Some setups can be done with two, but Acts II and III are significantly easier with three or four players.
Act I focuses on stopping a data breach at various locations across San Andreas. The finale is the LOST mobile operations center intercept.
Key setup missions:
The Act I finale involves escorting the MOC across the map while fighting off waves of enemies. Use the Armored Kuruma or weaponized vehicles for the escort section, then board the train and fight through the cars to the final boss.
Act II involves stopping a Russian submarine from launching missiles. This act is notorious for having the most frustrating setup missions.
The finale takes place underwater and on the submarine. Players fight through the sub to plant explosives, then escape in the surface vehicle. The underwater section requires careful oxygen management.
Act II is also famous for the 'Bogdan Problem' replay glitch (though Rockstar has patched most versions). Even without glitches, it pays $1,950,000 on hard mode, making it the second-highest-paying finale behind Cayo Perico.
Act III is the finale of the Doomsday Heist. You infiltrate the Cliffford facility in the Mount Chiliad bunker system. This is widely considered the hardest mission in GTA Online.
The finale is a massive firefight through the underground bunker. You face juggernauts with miniguns, advanced soldiers with thermal vision, and waves of drones. The key to survival is:
| Act | Setups | Finale | Est. Total Time | Hard Mode Payout |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Act I: Data Breaches | 8 | 1 | 3-4 hours | $1,125,000 |
| Act II: Bogdan | 9 | 1 | 4-5 hours | $1,950,000 |
| Act III: Doomsday | 8 | 1 | 5-6 hours | $2,025,000 |
| Total | 25 | 3 | 12-15 hours | $5,100,000 |
The Doomsday Heist has its own Criminal Mastermind challenge with massive payouts:
If you die during the Criminal Mastermind challenge, close the game application immediately. This sometimes prevents the death from counting. It doesn't always work, but it's worth trying.
The Doomsday Heist is not the most efficient moneymaker in GTA Online. At approximately $350,000-$450,000 per hour, it's significantly less profitable than Cayo Perico or the Casino Heist. However, it offers:
The Doomsday Heist is best approached as a challenge rather than a moneymaking activity. The setups are long, the finales are punishing, and the payout per hour is lower than alternatives. However, the sense of accomplishment from completing Act III on hard mode with the Criminal Mastermind bonus is unmatched. If you have a skilled, patient team, the Doomsday Heist is the ultimate GTA Online experience.
